Biography

The koto is the national instrument of Japan and is similar to a harp or dulcimer. Our repertoire represents a diverse range of koto music, from traditional works, mesmerizing modern compositions, and innovative covers of rock, pop, and anime favorites. The Columbus Koto Ensemble is Julie A. Palmer (koto, 十七弦), Jessica Entis (koto), and Lori Fannin (koto). We have training from music schools in Japan as well as the United States and have the expertise to educate and entertain. Collaborating members include: Lisa Reaves (koto, violin, shamisen), and Alanna Furst (vocal).
